Friction is what’s missing when designing meaningful experiences. The importance of friction part 3/3: a couple key principles to applying ‘high friction thinking’ to design better brand experiences, with some of my favourite recent examples I’ve seen of people trying to preference meaning over mass engagement. #brandstrategy #marketing #marketingstrategy #culture

Is nature versus nurture a false debate? Philosopher of biology Subrena Smith argues it is. We cannot understand any organism in isolation from its environment. In this exclusive studio interview, Smith takes on evolutionary psychology – the dominant lens for explaining human behaviour through evolution – and makes the bold case that it’s fundamentally flawed. She exposes the hidden ideological biases beneath Darwinian narratives and offers a powerful alternative for understanding what really shapes human behaviour.

sorry @The Rest Is Politics I have a bone to pick with you 😾 and to say that current politicians wouldn’t have accent bias just because some have come from working class backgrounds is just so odd to me, internalised bias can be some of the strongest #politics #ukpolitics #Policy #therestispolitics #rorystewart #accent #bias #inequality #workingclass #socialmobility @Gary Stevenson

This frame is taken from Notebook on Cities and Clothes (1989), a documentary by Wim Wenders about Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto, commissioned by the Centre Pompidou in Paris. What begins as a portrait of a fashion designer slowly becomes a visual diary, as Yamamoto’s philosophical reflections lead Wenders to explore broader questions about cities, identity, and the role of cinema in modern life. The film traces a quiet dialogue between two creators, both deeply committed to process, detail, and meaning. In this sequence, Yamamoto rewrites his signature over and over, searching for the perfect gesture a small but powerful example of his meticulous approach to craft. An approach that deeply inspires us at Recente Studio.
