Always be gifting

I'm always minded to write a gift guide at this time of year. Because I see the ones flying round the socials - and I'm a fan - but they tend to be very US-centric and therefore frustrating.

But then, when I come to write one, I can never remember anything.

So, I'm going to create this post and just keep editing and adding to it, for, basically, ever.

The Rolls-Royce of Washing Up Bowls

Most nations think we're crazy with our washing up bowls. No matter. And since we're going to have one, why not have a gorgeous, ever-lasting, only gets better with age, stainless steel one. Never throw out another washing up bowl. Personally I'm a fan of the orange.

A handy key ring without the EDC connotations

You can see what it is. It's a carabiner with a posidrive bit attached. Surprisingly useful. Designed by Michael Marriot. And if you're pushing the boat out, the wingnut is the ultimate in statement jewellery.

The left-handed scissors of God

If you're left-handed and you've never used left-handed scissors get yourself some of these. You'll realise how easy the right-handers have had it all their lives.

If you have a lefty in your life get them a pair. They'll feel seen. These Penco ones are nice but any left-handed scissors will do.

Anything and everything by Tamara Shopsin

You can get her books in the UK, quite easily. But they're not that well known here and they give off an 'import' vibe. Like you might have bought them when visiting a friend in DUMBO or IDIOT.

Laserwriter II is genius. So is Arbitrary Stupid Goal. I even bought and adore the 5-year diary.

And for a cheaper and long-lasting gift maybe get someone a subscription to The Voyeur.

Uncut Stems is a flower club

The only one I've ever belonged to, but it's probably the best one. It's certainly very good. "Flowers arrive un-arranged and with a letter full of styling and drying tips, updates from the growers and information on each Stem so that you can learn as you arrange."

The only acceptable house-warming gift

Everything you need. You don't have to get it from Amazon, but you can. So useful.
