5 million steps
I know we're not supposed to be interested in a Quantified Self any more but I still count my steps because I still find it useful. Aiming for a certain numbers of steps every day (and counting them) nudges me into remembering to get out and walk. And it makes me notice when I've been a bit slothful.
I've been looking for something else to aim for, though, since we've all realised that 10,000 steps was just a marketing confection/masterpiece .
I wanted something of the same magnitude. And last year I realised that around 14,000 steps a day will get you to 5,000,000 steps a year. Which sounds like a lot. An impressive thing to aim for. So that's what I've been doing.
Last year I got there on December 16th. And this year I did it on Sunday morning. 2 days earlier. Pleasing.
